The Assistant Maintenance Engineer is to ensure that all maintenance activities concerning the highway are carried out in accordance with company’s standards and specifications. This person is responsible for the supervision, inspection and coordination of any maintenance project that is undertaken by the Sub-contractor.
? Identify, assess and report construction defects along the motorway for rectification
? Prepare condition assessment Bi-annual report
? Monitor the work progress of all maintenance projects of contractors to ensure work completion within deadline
? Prepare and administer work order contracts for maintenance projects both routine and emergency to contractors
? Assign weekly maintenance duties to Motorway Patrol Officers
? Prepare monthly maintenance project reports
? Inspect, measure and approve the scope of works carried out
? Prepare the Annual Maintenance Plan
Other Duties and Responsibilities
? Ensure that MPOs on maintenance duty complete all the given maintenance activities as mandated.
? To prepare cost estimates for various highway projects.
? To prepare work order requests for sub-contractors and sign off in approval on completed work for further payment processing.
? To prepare the following: –
? Annual Maintenance Schedule ? Bi-annual Highway Report ? Monthly Maintenance Schedule
DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY
? To approve scope of work completed as per work order request that was initially given.
? To validate/approve MPO’s maintenance daily activity sheet.
? Give clear instruction on impromptu emergency maintenance activities to be carried out as soon as possible.
There are times when the Engineer has to go outdoors. This would require excessive walking, bending and climbing when carrying out slope, bush cutting, fence repair and other inspections.
EDUCATION/TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
? Bachelor of Science/Diploma In any construction related discipline such as construction management, engineering, or project management.
? Experience is an asset.

TYPICAL WORKING TIME
8:00 – 18:00. The incumbent may have to work overtime when called upon.
