The Toll Collector is responsible for processing vehicles and collecting toll fare (with the exception of toll exempt vehicles) in the form of cash, and other methods of payment, accurately recording all events and anomalies on the prescribed Activity Sheet, and at the end of shift deposit all cash (local and foreign currency) received.
? Assesses, collects, and registers toll fares for all types of vehicles passing through an assigned toll lane based on the automatic vehicle detection system.
? Issues machine-printed or prepares handwritten cash receipts.
? Examines monies (local and foreign currency) to ensure that they are not counterfeit or mutilated.
? Complies with rules and regulations pertinent to Toll Collection and Safety.
? Demonstrates and maintains professionalism at all times. This includes exercising self-control when dealing with rude or irate customers.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
? Assists with the training of new Toll Collectors on request.
? Appears and testifies in court in the prosecution of law/toll violators on request.
? Prepares report(s) on abnormal incidences in the toll lane, such as Violations.
? Assist in emergency situations.
? Performs any duties and responsibilities within the scope of work as assigned or directed by the direct and indirect supervisors (Toll & Safety Supervisor and Toll Plaza Supervisor)
DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY: Nil
? Should be able to operate in a demanding work environment that requires a high level of precision and the ability to remain calm in adverse circumstances.
? The Toll Collector is required to work on a shift-basis and should be able to fill-in a shift (on-call) when necessary.
EDUCATION/TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
? At least 3 CSEC/CXC subjects or its equivalent
? Adept Cashiering and Customer Service Skills
? Ability to multitask.
? Excellent interpersonal skills
? Computer literate;
? Competency in communication and writing
? Proficiency in Cash Management.
